Additionally we ask that you kindly pick up after your pets. Outside temperatures often get into the 90s in the summer; please do not leave your dogs in a locked car. Dogs are prohibited from all chairlifts, ski slopes, and tubing hill. Dogs are allowed on the snowshoe trail, but must be kept on a leash. Use caution when walking dogs across the ski runs that the snowshoe trail crosses.
*Dogs are not allowed on the gondola or hiking trails during event weekends. Event weekends include the North American Enduro Cup, Silver Kings Hard Enduro, Top Pin Archery, Brewsfest, and Northwest Cup.
Tree Well & Deep Snow Safety
A deep snow or tree well immersion accident occurs when a skier or rider falls into an area of deep unconsolidated snow and becomes immobilized and suffocates. Minimize your risk by paying attention, avoiding tree wells, and skiing or boarding with a partner in sight.
Resort Boundary Policy
Silver Mountain Resort has a clearly marked resort boundary. At several locations around the mountain, there are backcountry gates which allow skiers to exit the ski area. Skiers/boarders who choose to ski or ride beyond the resort boundary should exit the ski area through the designated backcountry gates. Ducking boundary ropes to leave the ski area is prohibited.
Skiers who choose to leave the resort and ski beyond the boundary do so at their own risk. There are no resort services outside the resort boundary. The backcountry surrounding Silver Mountain may contain uncontrolled avalanche terrain and unmarked hazards and obstacles.
Rescue from the backcountry surrounding Silver Mountain Resort is the responsibility of the Shoshone County Sherriff. Rescue, if available, will be slow and difficult. Costs associated with backcountry rescues are the responsibility of the individuals being rescued.
Those who choose to ski in the backcountry should ski with a partner; have the skills and knowledge to do so safely; carry and know how to use avalanche transceivers, shovel, and probe; know their route and have a means of uphill travel.
Uphill travel is not permitted within resort boundaries.
Rope lines and closed runs are for guest safety and the safety of resort employees. Ducking ropes will result in loss of pass privileges. Skiiing and snowboarding in closed terrain and on closed runs could result in injury or death and will result in losing pass privileges for the season.
Chairs aren't designed for bouncing, swinging or abrupt weight loss out of the chair. It may damage the lift and/or cause it to derail injuring others.

AirFlare Mountain Safety App
Silver Mountain has recently adopted AirFlare Search Technology as part of an ongoing effort to promote mountain safety. AirFlare is a low cost, easy to use, lifesaving tool you don’t need to remember to pack. AirFlare transforms a mobile phone into a safety and rescue beacon. AirFlare enables Silver Mountain Ski Patrol to quickly locate a skier in need of assistance, whether in or out of cell service. AirFlare also provides a number of self-help features, for example, the ability to determine the exact location of a friend or family member with a single push of a button, and to quickly navigate to them. This app is a good addition to but does not replace an avalanche transceiver. Learn more at airflare.com.
Beacon check stations are located at the top of Chairs 2 & 4.
In case of accident:
- If you encounter an injured skier or rider, please direct other skiers and snowboarders away from the scene by sticking their skies, poles, or snowboard in the snow, preferably in a cross formation above the incident. This makes it easier for the ski patrol to find you and prevents others from running into you.
- Send someone to the nearest lift operator or call ski patrol at 208-784-1943 to report the injury. The reporting party should know the exact location of the accident and the general description of who is injured. If you are able to provide the trail name, nearby lift tower number, and whether the skiers are on the right or left of the run will expedite response.
We are equipped with RECCO Rescue Technology. Silver Mountain Ski Patrol uses RECCO detectors to search for any person reported missing.
